Other 的用法，可簡單可複雜，或為代名詞或為形容詞。如果單純從字義來看是”其他的、另外的、其餘的”等。但它更有好幾個很實用常見的用語，我們今天就先來認識 :

each other 彼此、互相
John and Mary are so happy together – they were made for each other.
John 和 Mary 在一起多麼幸福，真是天生一對。
The two companies are in competition with each other.
那兩家公司互相競爭
one another 彼此、互相
We’ve known one another for more than ten years.
我們已經認識彼此超過10年了
People were very friendly within this building and all said hello to one another .
在這棟大樓的人們都非常友善，他們都會彼此打招呼。
every other 間隔
Winnie and I get together every other Saturday for dinner.
Winnie 和我每隔週的星期六都會聚在一起吃晚餐
The sales conference used to be held every year, but now it takes place every other year.
業務大會以前是每年舉行，但現在則是每隔一年召開。
the other day 前幾天
I ran into Ryan at the supermarket the other day.

on the other hand 另一方面
David is a good guy. His brother, on the other hand, is a very selfish man.

On the one hand Lisa would like a job that pays more, but on the other hand she enjoys the work she is doing at the moment.
Lisa 一方面想要一份薪水更高的工作，但另一方面她也喜歡現在的工作。
in other words 換句話說
Fruit and vegetables are full of vitamins and minerals. In other words, they are good for you.
水果和蔬菜富含維生素和礦物質，換句話說，它們對你是有益的。
Frogs are amphibians. In other words, they live on the land and in the water.
青蛙是兩棲動物，換句話說，它們住在陸地和水中。
