英文句子有主句和子句，以從屬連接詞為首的子句，補充說明主句的意義，表示時間、原因、條件和對比等。用法並不難，多是從字面意義直接敘述。但如果需要寫作的話，就需要注意標點符號了。從屬句在前的時候，要用逗號隔開；從屬句在後的時候，則不用。

表示原因 as / because /since / now that
as 因為、由於
As it was getting late, we decided to book into a hotel.
因為天色已晚，我們決定投宿一間旅館。
You can go first as you’re the oldest.
你可以第一個去，因為你年紀最長。
because 因為
I can’t go to Amy’s party because I am going away that weekend.
我不能參加Amy的聚會，因為我那個週末會不在。
Because there was a long queue in the duty-free shop, Jenny almost missed her flight.

since 因爲、既然
Since we’ve got a few minutes to wait for the flight, let’s have a cup of coffee.

now that 既然，由於
Now that you are here, you may as well stay for a few days.

表示條件 if / unless / whether or not /even if / in case

You can’t travel abroad unless you have a passport.

表示對比 although /though / even though
although 雖然、儘管
Although I had all the necessary qualifications, I didn’t get the job.

Maggie is not satisfied although she has everything she wants.
雖然要什麼有什麼，Maggie還是不滿足。
even though 雖然、儘管
Susan didn’t learn Japanese even though she lived in Japan for a year.
雖然住過日本一年，Susan 並沒有學日文。
Even though Gary doesn’t get much exercise, he is in good shape physically.
儘管Gary沒做太多運動，他的身材保持得很好。
