英文簡單學 – 對等連接詞｜EF ENGLISH LIVE部落格

英文的連接詞和介系詞都是簡短的一個小字，但可不要弄混了，它們在語意表達上的功能是不相同的。連接詞顧名思義就是連結句子中的字彙和子句的意義，依照使用的類型共分為三種 :

A. 對等連接詞：

1. and / but / or / so / for / yet

B. 配對連接詞：

1. both …and / not only … but also / either … or / neither … nor

C. 從屬連接詞：

1. 表示時間  after, before, when, while, as soon as, as long as, so long as, since, until

2. 表示原因  as, because, since, now that

3. 表示條件   if, unless, whether or not, even if, in case, in the event that

4. 表示對比  although, though, even though, while, whereas

對等連接詞：功能在於連結詞性相同的生字和句子

and / but / or / so / for / yet

and     和，並，且，及，然後

1. Steve and his friend are coming to dinner. ( 連接名詞 )

   Steve和他的朋友將要來吃晚餐

2. The old man is kind and generous. ( 連接形容詞 )

   那位老先生很仁慈和慷慨

3. Anna spoke angrily and bitterly about the war. ( 連接副詞 )

   Anna 憤怒而痛苦地談起那戰爭

4. I enjoy watching movies and playing tennis in my free time. ( 連接動名詞 )

   在我的休閒時間，我喜歡看電影和打網球

5. Susan stood up, wore her coat, and walked out. (連接動詞)

   Susan站起來，穿上外套，並走出去。

6. It was raining hard ,and there was a strong wind. ( 連接句子 )

   雨下得很大，風也很強。

but     但是，不過，而

1. He is not a writer but a painter. ( 連接名詞 )

   他不是一位作家，而是一位畫家。

2. These shoes are old but comfortable. ( 連接形容詞 )

   這鞋子老舊但很舒適

3. Jerry looked for his cell phone, but  couldn’t find it. ( 連接句子 )

   Jerry在找他的手機，但找不到。

4. I dropped the big vase, but  it didn’t break. ( 連接句子 )

   我掉落了大花瓶，但它卻沒有破掉。

5. The directions were not clear, but  I found the bookstore anyway. ( 連接句子 )

   方向不清楚，但我還是找到了那家書店。

or     或者，還是，否則

1. Would you like some tea or coffee ? ( 連接名詞 )

   你想要一些茶或咖啡嗎？

2. Is lemon juice sweet or sour? ( 連接形容詞)

   檸檬汁是甜的還是酸的？

3. Gary wants to watch TV or ( to ) listen to some music. ( 連接不定詞)

   Gary想要看電視或聽一些音樂

4. You had better hurry , or you’ll be late. (連接句子)

   你最好趕快一點，否則你要遲到了。

5. Do you have to go to work on Monday , or is Monday a holiday ? ( 連接句子 )

   你星期一要去上班嗎？ 或者星期一放假？

so     所以，因此，結果

1. Jenny was tired, so she went to bed early. ( 連結句子 )

   Jenny累了，所以她早早上床睡覺了。

2. Allen didn’t study, so he failed the test. ( 連結句子 )

   Allen沒唸書，所以他考試不及格。

3. It was hot, so we went swimming. ( 連結句子 )

   天氣很熱，所以我們去游泳。

4. Lisa was ill, so she missed the class. ( 連結句子 )

   Lisa生病了，所以她沒去上課。

5. Mike had to study for a test, so he went to the library. ( 連結句子 )

   Mike需要準備考試，所以他去了圖書館。

for     因為，由於，為了…的緣故

1. Annie is in serious legal trouble, for she had no car insurance at the time of the accident. ( 連結句子 )

   Annie 遇到了嚴重的法律難題，因為發生車禍時，她的車沒有保險。

2. The little girl hid behind her mother’s skirt, for she was afraid of dogs. ( 連結句子 )

   小女孩躲在她媽媽的裙子後面，因為她會怕狗。

3. Lucy has to start early tomorrow, for it will take three hours to drive to the airport.   ( 連結句子 )

   Lucy 明天很早就得出發，因為要開車3小時才能抵達機場。

4. We have to go to the grocery store, for there is nothing in the house to fix for dinner. ( 連結句子 )

   我們需要去食品雜貨店，因為家裡沒東西可作晚餐了。

5. I wore a coat, for  the weather was cold. ( 連結句子 )

   我穿了外套，因為天氣很冷。

yet     然而，卻， 但是

1. Julie didn’t study, yet she passed the exam. ( 連結句子 )

   Julie沒唸書，但卻通過了考試。

2. Rick’s academic record was outstanding, yet he was not accepted by the university.  ( 連結句子 )

   Rick的學業成績非常優異，但他卻沒被大學錄取。

3. David didn’t know how to swim, yet he jumped into the swimming pool. ( 連結句子 )

   David 不知道如何游泳，但他卻跳進了游泳池。

4. I don’t like the leading actress, yet the movie was really good on the whole.                 ( 連結句子 )

   我並不喜歡女主角，然而這電影整體來說非常好。

5. I washed my hands several times, yet they still looked dirty. ( 連結句子 )

   我洗手洗了好幾次，但它們看起來還是很髒。

連接詞雖然就像是英文句子的配角，但卻是句子與句子間很重要的橋樑，希望同學們先把上面的對等連接詞學好，靈活地運用到你的英文句子中。
