حالات التباس شائعة في اللغة الإنجليزية: where, wear, were, we’re

حتى نساعدك في تعلم اللغة الإنجليزية وتحسين مستواك فيها؛ هيا نأخذ بعض الكلمات التي يُلتبس في فهمها كثيرًا في اللغة الإنجليزية: where, wear, were, we’re. ربما تبدو هذه الكلمات متشابهة كتابة ونطقًا، ولكن لكل منها معنى مختلف.

Where

تستخدم هذه الكلمات لطرح سؤال يتعلق بمكان ما أو إعطاء الاتجاهات لمكان ما.

أمثلة:

“?Where are you going”
“?Where is your house”
“I know where the mall is. It’s just down there and to the left.”

جاءت ‘where’ في كل هذه الجمل لطرح سؤال عن مكان أو توجه لمكان.

Wear

رغم أن هذه الكلمة تنطق مثل ‘where’؛ إلا أنها بالتأكيد لا تحمل نفس المعنى. في الواقع؛ ‘wear’ لها معنيان.

1. للإشارة إلى ارتداء الملابس أو الإكسسوارات أو التجهيزات التي تحملها أو تضعها على جسمك.
أمثلة:

“I love the shirt you are wearing.”

“?What are you going to wear to the wedding”

“I like to wear casual shoes.”

2. للإشارة إلى شيء تم استخدامه بإفراط أو تم استنفاده.

أمثلة:

“Staring at a computer for 6+ hours a day can really wear out your eyes.”

“The car’s tires are wearing thin.”

Were

هذه الكلمة هي الزمن الماضي من ‘are’.

أمثلة:

“?What were you doing yesterday”

“?Why were you out so late”

We’re

هذه الكلمة هي اندماج ‘we are’.

أمثلة:

“We’re going to the cinema tomorrow.” (We are going to the cinema tomorrow)

“We’re upset we missed our flight. “ (We are upset we missed our flight)
