‏مفردات إنجليزية يشيع الخلط بينها: affect مقابل effect و accept vs. except

هذه الكلمات الأربع يمكن أن تسبب مشكلة حتى للناطقين باللغة الإنجليزية الأم. ولمساعدتك على وضع الأمور في نصابها الصحيح، إليك الفروق بين هذه الكلمات التي يشيع الخلط بينها.

‏Affect vs. Effect

Affect

هذه الكلمة تعني ‘أن تؤثر‘. وغالبًا ما تُستخدم كفعل.

على سبيل المثال:

‏“Making friends with the wrong people at school can affect your grades.”

وتعني: ‏“Making friends with the wrong people at school can influence your grades.”

‏Effect

هذه الكلمة تعني ‘نتيجة لـ‘.

على سبيل المثال:

‏“The effect of Sam hanging out with the wrong crowd was not being accepted into college.”

وتعني: ‏“The result of Sam hanging out with the wrong crowd was not being accepted into college.”

دعنا نستخدم كلا الكلمتين في جملة واحدة كمثال واحد أخير:

“People can be affected (‘influenced’) easily by others, and when this happens the effect (‘result’) can be negative, like not being able to go to college.”

‏Accept vs. Except

Accept

هذه الكلمة تعني أن تقول ‘نعم‘ لـ، أو تتسلم، أو تقر بشيء.

مثلا:

‏“I got accepted to the university I wanted!”

وتعني: ‏“I got admitted to the university I wanted!”

‏Except

هذه الكلمة تعني أن الشيء مستثنى، وغير مدرج.

مثلا:

‏“I don’t know anyone in my class except for you.”

وتعني:  “I don’t know anyone in my class but you.”

دعنا نستخدم كلا الكلمتين في جملة واحدة كمثال واحد أخير:

‏“We all got accepted (‘admitted’) to the same school except (‘but’) Ashley.”

حسنًا، حان وقت الاختبار! ‏أملئ الفراغات باستخدام ‘accept’ و ‘except’ و ‘affect’ و ‘effect’:
